Lestvico je sestavila gejevska revija Out, ki je za mnenje vprašala sto homoseksualnih igralcev, pevcev, glasbenikov, kritikov, piscev, DJ-ev in predstavnikov založb. Za najbolj gejevski album so med drugim glasovali Boy George, Rufus Wainwright, Cyndi Lauper, Perez Hilton, Jake Shears, John Cameron Mitchell, Wilson Cruz, Junior Vasquez in Janis Ian.
Poleg prvih desetih mest moramo omeniti še 13. mesto, ki ga je osvojil duet Erasure (The Innocents), in 15. mesto, ki je pripadlo Georgeu Michaelu (Faith).
